Weather conditions
In English, we usually use It is when we talk
about the weather.
This is normally: It is + adjective OR It is
+ verb-ing
It is snowy today.
It's hot and humid today.
It's a nice day today.
We can also say:
It is a + adjective + day (or morning/afternoon/night)
It's a fine day.
It's a sunny afternoon.
It is + verb-ing = This type of weather is happening
now.
It's drizzling outside.
It's snowing.
It's raining at the moment.
You can also use "it is" in different tenses
It was cold yesterday.
It will be windy tomorrow.
Most adjectives describing the weather are formed by
adding -y to a nouns, but there are some exceptions to this rule.

When it rains for a short period of time, we call it
a shower.
When it’s raining a lot we say it’s pouring or it’s pouring
with rain.
Examples:
It often pours with rain on the Equator.
It’s gets quite chilly in the evenings in the
mountains.
Thunder makes a terrifying noise.
Lightning is dangerous, so stay safe.
A shower is a gentle rain.
A spell of hot weather may end in a thunderstorm.
When temperature runs below zero degrees Celsius, water turns to ice.
Heavy rain is what we have when it’s pouring with rain for a
long time.
When it’s foggy it’s better to drive carefully.

Thunderstorms
A period of very hot
weather sometimes ends with a thunderstorm. At the beginning it’s very humid,
hot and wet, then you get thunder and lightning, and finally, very heavy rain pours.
Afterwards, it’s a lot cooler.
