Съществителни имена 😃 Nouns

Съществителните имена са думите, с които наричаме човек, място или нещо (предмет, обект). 😃 Nouns are words that names a person, place or thing (subject, object).

Видове съществителни имена: 😃 Nouns have varieties:

Собствени  и нарицателни 😃 Common and Proper nouns

Със собствените имена наричаме отделни единични  хора, места или предмети 😃Common nouns name any person, place or thing

С нарицателните имена наричаме специфични хора, места или предмети. Нарицателните съществителни имена винаги започват с главна буква 😃Proper nouns name a specific person, place or thing; they are always capitalized

Броими и неброими 😃 Countable and Uncountable

Броимите имена се отнасят за отделни лица или предмети, които могат да бъдат преброени. В единствено число пред тях слагаме неопределителен член a, an или числително име за брой one, а в множествено число two, three, four, five, etc.

Неброимите имена се отнасят за неща, които не могат да бъдат преброени – мляко, захар, хляб, масло, сирене и др. Те не образуват множествено число. Използваме ги с неопределителни местоимения any, some, no (някакъв, някаква, някакво, никакъв, никаква, никакво). За да станат броими трябва да поставим дума, означаваща част от цялото (парче, резен, лист, бутилка, чаша) или мерителна единица (половин/един/два/ килограм, литър)

Groups uncountable nouns:

•  Names of substances (material, liquid, gas, etc) – leather, wood, metal, silver, gold, iron, water, coffee, tea, milk, wine, beer, oil, jam, bread, meat, air, flour, cloth, glass, soup, silk
• Activities and sports – running, swimming, shopping, gardening, football, tennis, badminton
•  Names of a subject – art, history, law, music, mathematics, physics, biology, chemistry
•  Languages – Bulgarian, English, Spanish, Russian, German, Greek
• Abstract nouns – love, care, hope, help, happiness, luck, advice, information, experience, intelligence, bravery, fear, courage, beauty, poverty, hunger, knowledge, work, success
•  Collective nouns – furniture, luggage, equipment, traffic, accommodation

Единствено и множествено число 😃 Singular and Plural nouns

За да направим съществителното име от единствено число в множествено число трябва да добавим -s или -es. 😃 To make a singular noun plural add -s or -es.

При някои съществителни имена настъпват промени 😃 There are some changes in the nouns:

If the word ends in -ch, -sh, -x, -ss, add -es	branch, brush, box, dress	Branches, brushes, boxes, dresses
If the word ends in -y, remove -y and add -ies	Baby, country	Babies, countries
If the word ends in -o, add -es	Potato, tomato, photo, kilo, piano, volcano	Potatoes, tomatoes, volcanoes
If the word ends in -f, -fe, remove -f, -fe and add -ves	Half, leaf, life, knife	Halves, leaves, lives, knives

Някои съществителни имена имат неправилна форма 😃 Some nouns have irregular form

Някои съществителни имена остават същите в единствено и в множествено число 😃Some nouns have the same singular and plural form

Някои имена използваме винаги в множествено число, защото се състоят от две части и едната част става безполезна без другата (напр. чорапи) 😃Some nouns are always plural, because they are made of two parts. If we want to make it singular, we use a pair of:

a pair of pajamas	pajamas
a pair of scissors	scissors

a pair of socks	socks
a pair of glasses	Glasses(=spectacles)

 

Притежателни съществителни имена 😃 Possesive nouns

За да покажем притежание трябва да добавим апостроф ’ и s ( ’s ) към съществителното име в единствено число. 😃To show possession, add ’s to a singular noun.

The boy’s ball is there. The girl’s book is here.

Singular noun	To show possession, add an apostrophe ’ and s to a singular noun If the noun ends in -s, there are two possible forms: ·         add an apostrophe ’ and s (’s) ·         add only apostrophe ’	The boy’s ball is there. The girl’s book is here. Dickens’s novels Dickens’ novels
Plural noun	Add only an apostrophe ’ to a plural noun that ends in -s	The boys’ balls are there. The girls’ books are here.

Производни  съществителни имена 😃 Derivative nouns

Производните имена се образуват с помощта на приставки и наставки

Приставки: anti-; dis-; il-; im-; in-; ir-; -mis; non-;over-; pre-; un-;

Наставки: 

• лице, което упражнява за професия: -ar; -er; -or; -ee; -eer; -eur; -ian; -ier; -ant; -ent; -ist; -ster;

Example: liar, doctor, employee, economist, electrician, accountant, student, singer, creator

•  абстрактни: - acy (-cy); -ance (-ence); -dom; -hood; -ing; -ism; -asm; -ment; -ness;-tion (-sion); -ship; -ry;-th; -ty;

Example: democracy, kingdom, reading, scholarship,length, sarcasm, creation, kindness    

• умалителни: -ette; -en; -let; -ling; -ie, -y

Example: kitten, piglet, daddy

Съставни съществителни имена  😃 Compound nouns

Съставните съществителни имена са две или повече думи функциониращи като един израз. 😃 Compound nouns are two or more nouns that function as a single unit
